I have a finish to report! I put the border on the "was going to be a rug, now is a table runner" today and it's done! I have tried machine quilting the binding, but never have I tried Rita's method from Red Pepper quilts. I did today, and it was actually easier than I anticipated. Basically you sew the binding on the front side, wrap around to back and pin just past the sew line on the back, then come back to the front and do a machine stitch in the ditch along the binding so that it sews through the back.
I like the touch of a few lines of hand quilting here and there.
Here it is shown on the back where it shows up a bit better.
The corners just clicked for me this time. And I think the striped binding is fun.
Ok, ok, enough pics of the table runner. I just can't help myself. These are MY colors. Love them.
Other WIPs:
Planning to start Amanda's 36 patch quilt along REAL SOON. Does that sound familiar to anyone? "Tomorrow" I will do it! Here's a link to her fun: http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2011/07/36-patch-quilt-along-week-3.html
and here is a link to Rita's tutorial on machine binding.
My WIP half square triangle quilt is slowly progressing. I am squaring up all of the squares before I sew anymore rows. I do not like this part of the process, so it's taking awhile....
And the WIP Christmas garland is coming along...I have more ready to string.
Linking up to Work in Progress Wednesday with Lee over at Freshly Pieced!

I sew binding on this way quite a bit. Just finished my Kaleidoscope and love the way it turned out. Beautiful tablerunner!
